Can not eating enough food every day slow down weight loss efforts?
tamika j asked:
I just started a diet plan on my own, about 3 weeks ago. Friends and family who have noticed a change in my eating habits insist I’m not eating enough. Can this be true? I’m 5′4, and 255lbs. Typically, in a day I’ll have a couple slim fast shakes, a couple pieces of fruit, a baked potato, a small piece of chicken or fish, a vegetable or two, and a lot of water.

Exercise and Weight Loss
i think your diet is good . but if you suffered from any medical problems like headache or fainting you have to ask a doctor. but i think that the food is enough .
Want to lose weight?
Absolutely.
If you don’t eat enough to keep your body running, your body stops burning fat and starts to store it, because it doesn’t ‘know’ when it will get more.
the most concise advice i’ve found is this: eat 3 small meals and 3 snacks a day, drink at least 64oz of water a day
It sounds like you’re off to a really good start! Try adding more veggies in place of the potato – or cutting the potato in half and saving half for the next day.
I could go on and on, but you should do some googling for free websites which will help you to design a plan fit for your goals.
No matter what, when you keep eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and exercising even just the minimum, you’ll start to see results.
Congratulations on starting your own plan! You might make a few adjustments based on how many calories you’re supposed to be eating during the day, but you’re really going in the right direction!

It absolutely can hinder your weight loss efforts by sending your body into “starvation mode,” in which your body holds onto fat and calories because it anticipates a famine.
Looking at what you’re eating, but not knowing portion sizes, it is possible that you’re not eating enough. When I wanted to lose weight, I joined Weight Watchers and learned a really healthy way to eat, including food choices, portion sizes, and total amount throughout the day. I lost 4 lbs in about 4 months and I recommend it highly. (And the message boards on their website are free, too.) It’s so hard to try to do it on your own. I wish you the best of success in your efforts!
Metabolism and Your Weight
As long as you are eating a healthy amount of calories, which is anywhere from 1200 to 2000 calories, a day you should be okay. However, you also need to make sure that you are balancing those calories correctly. Like limit your fat, increase your protein and for god’s sake continue eating carbs. Shakes seem like a really nice way to slim down but for the amount of calories compared to the satisfaction they provide you would almost be better off eating very small meals 6 times a day. Like some carrots, A few slices of sliced turkey breast, and some cheese, then eat about the same amount of something else 2-3 hours later.

I feel you girl! I started Weight Watchers about 8 months ago and have lost 40 pounds. The trick is that you are supposed to eat throughout the day. I used to be a lot like you and think that the best way to lose weight is to eat less, but that is so wrong. Since starting Weight Watchers I’ve learned that you have to start the day off with a healthy fulfilling breakfast, have lunch, a couple snacks during the day, and have a healthy filling dinner…so that you’re not snacking in the middle of the night =) When you eat less you’re body goes into starvation mode and holds onto the fat instead of burning off the fat…which is what you’re trying to do anyways. You should try to eat at least 5 small meals so that your body is satisfied. Oh, and most importantly you must drink a lot of water. I never used to drink anything but soda but I started buying those Crystal Light singles that you pour in your water bottles and they’re so good!! Plus they’re only 10 calories =) I’ve noticed that the more water I drink, the more weight I lose. You should give it a try, the worst thing that could happen is you lose some weight…and that’s not so bad!! Also, maybe consider going to a Weight Watchers meeting once in awhile…it keeps you accountable because you have to weigh in every week. Good luck to you and I hope my advice helped =)
Slim down – remove fat
your body goes into stravation mode if it is not getting enough nutriates. So, basically..what it does, is start storing fat in you to ehlp you from starving.
forgo those shakes…eat healtheir…have lots of protien and good carbs..ie..
brown toast with a tbs of peanutter butter fruit in the morning
a big salad for lunch..tuna slade with lots of differnt lettuce..veggies..and a small fruit
baked potaot..or rice..broiled meat..and veggies for supper
have a small scoop of icecream..or yougurt with fruit after words..
you have to eat sensibly along with exercise..a nice walk..or whatever..and some free weights 2-3 times a week.
Our bodies are not made to eat things like shakes all the time..they are nothing more than gloriefied chocolate milk with a vitamen tossed in..and not filling.
Fastest Way to Lose Weight
it is definitely true. not eating enough slows down your metabolism because your body gets used to not eating often. plus, your body goes into starvation mode and will hold on to everything you eat instead of losing weight. eventually you will lose weight and become too skinny. what you are eating is so unhealthy. eat a big breakfast a small lunch abnd a decent dinner. eat chicken, fish cheese. you know meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables. nuts curb cravings and have protein. but im not a nutritionist. sounds like you need one. good luck.
